Law schools offer Juris Doctor(JD) degree and degrees other than JD. JD degree is the required legal degree for professionals who want to take bar exam and are pursuing a career as a practicing attorney.
Non-JD degrees includes Juris Master (J.M.), Master of Jurisprudence(M.J), Master of Science or Master of Studies (M.S.), Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S), and Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S). In addition, Post J.D. programs and Research / academic-based doctorate level degrees are offered at law schools.
In 2023, 82.85% of law school students (116,727) are enrolled in JD program and 17.15% of students (24,158) are in non-JD programs.
